We're excited to introduce Custom Spaces! Now, each space can be as unique as its host! Here's how to get your access and get started:
Upgrade your Kumospace
All new users going forward will have Custom Spaces automatically! Did you create your Kumospace before June 15th, 2021? To upgrade an existing space, go to your Profile and click Upgrade Your Space.
At the pop-up window click Upgrade Your Space again. To learn more about Custom Spaces, check out this article.
Note: upgrading will DELETE your existing Kumospace rooms and replace them with Custom Spaces.
What changes can you expect? For the most part, we believe that Custom Spaces is an improvement to every aspect of Kumospace. We see three considerations if you’re already planning an event in Kumospace:
- Total space capacity: On our free plan, you can host events of up to 30 concurrent participants. If you are planning a larger event, please refer to our pricing page or book some time to talk with our sales team.
- Out-of-the-box variety: With Custom Spaces you can create an infinite number of room layouts; your imagination is the only limit! Choose from our pre-made templates, build your own room from scratch, or get the best of both worlds by starting with a template and adding the final touches yourself.
- Ordering your rooms: A small one, but note that rooms are arranged alphabetically in Custom Spaces. If you have a preference for the order of your rooms, you will need to start the name with 1, 2, 3 or a, b, c.
Edit your Kumospace
To edit your space, first find it in your Profile and click Join Space, and then Join. If you are signed in to your account as a host, this will take you to the Lobby where you can see your existing rooms, add new ones, and adjust your settings and privacy options.
Manage your rooms
Clicking the Settings button in the upper right of every room thumbnail will allow you to Edit name, Close Room, Change to Template, Make a Copy or Delete room. You can also add a new room by clicking Add Room from this page.
Each room has a default capacity of 30 people. If you would like to increase your room capacity, please contact our sales team.
When adding a new room, you can build your own room from scratch or choose from one of our pre-made templates. Note that all of our templates are fully editable and you are able to add your personal finishing touches.
We're adding new templates all the time, so keep an eye out for exciting new releases!
Secure your space
Clicking on the Settings and Privacy button on the top right of your Lobby will allow you to change the name of your space, and adjust your Privacy and Chat Settings.
Simply choose your preferred options and then click Save:
Everyone: You can set your Kumospace so that attendees are not required to register with an email to enter.
Registered Users: This is the default setting. Allowing only registered users to access your space makes it easier to remove misbehaving guests. Note that removing participants is permanent.
Password protection: Select this option and you will be prompted to choose a password. Only guests with whom you've shared your password will be able to access your space.
Guest list Access: Select this option and you will be prompted to enter the email addresses of participants who are allowed access to your space. You can enter the email addresses manually, or upload a CSV (comma separated values) file, which allows you to add up to 1000 email addresses at once.
Closed Space: The final option allows you to prevent access to all attendees except hosts and co-hosts.

You can also choose the ways in which your guests use the Chat function, or disable it completely by unticking all of the boxes. Note that no matter which chat option you select, hosts and co-hosts will still be able to message using all methods.
