Checklist for the optimal Kumospace experience

Here are seven best practices for getting started in Kumospace.

1. Kumospace works best with laptop and desktop computers

For best performance, we recommend using Kumospace on a macOS or Windows laptop or desktop computer.

At this time, we are Beta testing Kumospace on mobile and tablet devices. Although you can use Kumospace on your mobile or tablet, you may experience limited functionality.

We are working quickly to improve performance across all devices, so please stay tuned.

2. Kumospace works best on Google Chrome

In order to provide the best Kumospace experience possible, we have focused our development efforts on optimizing for Google Chrome. Using other browsers can result in degraded performance.

Click here to download Google Chrome, and stay tuned for future Kumospace releases that support additional browsers.

3. Beware of firewalls / VPN

If you are on a work or school network, you may run into issues with your organization's internet firewalls or VPNs. These sometimes block access to certain URLs that are used by Kumospace, which can prevent Kumospace from working.

We recommend contacting your system administrator or organization's IT department to ask that the following URLs be allowed:

  • *.kumospace.com
  • *.googleapis.com
  • *.firebaseapp.com
  • *.daily.co
  • *.agora.io
  • *.sd-rtn.com

4. Ensure you’ve granted camera and microphone permissions

When using Kumospace for the first time, a pop-up will prompt you to allow Google Chrome access to your camera and microphone.

It is important that you grant these permissions so that other people can see and hear you in Kumospace.

If you’ve denied access by mistake, you can manually change your Google Chrome settings for Kumospace:

  1. Click the Three dots button at the top right of your Chrome browser and select Settings from the dropdown.
  2. Click Privacy and security on the sidebar, then select Site settings.
  3. Under Permissions, click on Camera or Microphone.

Here, you can review the sites you’ve either allowed or blocked access to. Ensure that https://www.kumospace.com is allowed.

To allow a site that’s blocked, select https://www.kumospace.com, then change the Camera permission to Allow. Next, change the Microphone permission to Allow.

5. Check your cookie settings

Your browser’s cookie settings can prevent certain features from functioning properly, such as the Spotify Jukebox.

To check your cookie settings in Google Chrome:

  1. Click the Three dots button at the top right of your Chrome browser and select Settings from the dropdown.
  2. Click on Privacy and Security on the sidebar, then select Cookies and other Site Data
  3. Under General Settings, select either the Allow all cookies or  Block third-party cookies in Incognito option.

6. Check your browser extensions

Certain browser extensions can sometimes prevent you from connecting correctly. Check if you have any browser extensions installed that may be blocking web traffic.

To check your Google Chrome extensions:

  1. Click the Three dots button at the top right of your Chrome browser and select Settings from the dropdown.
  2. On the bottom left click Extensions.
  3. To disable an extension, toggle the switch for that extension to the off position.

7. Refresh your browser

If you’re experiencing an issue in Kumospace and none of the above apply to you, we recommend refreshing your browser. This reconnects you to our server and usually resolves the issue.

If you continue having an issue after refreshing, please email us at hello@kumospace.com and we will be happy to help. You can also read this handy resource about the best way to report an issue
